A white man is promoted: He does good work, he deserved it.
A white woman is promoted: Whose dick did she suck?
A man of color is promoted: Oh, great, I guess we have to “fill quotas” now.
A woman of color is promoted: j/k. That never happens.

Yesterday, a teacher at my daughter’s preschool told me that she saw two boys and a girl spinning the knobs of a play oven. Boy #1 says: “I’m a pilot! I’m flying a plane.’ Boy #2 says: “Me too!” The girl is quiet, so the teacher says to her: “What about you, are you a pilot?” The 3 year old girl replies: “I can’t be a pilot. I’m a pilot’s wife.”

So what do you think has happened in this little girl’s short life to make her believe it’s more likely that she would be a pilot’s wife than a pilot?

"I don’t care about your gender! I like you for you!"

Okay, but like, I care about my gender, so if you could support me in ways that don’t involve belittling my relationship with gender, that’d be great

Very important

I think this speaks for itself. Accepting a person doesn’t mean you get to put limits on their freedom. You can’t be an ally and want us to stop talking, or labeling, or demanding to be heard.

Acceptance has no exceptions. Period.

A thousand times YES

Me: I ship these two women together so hard.

Person: You just want to see them kiss.

Me: No. I want to see them be friends. I want to see them slowly fall in love. I want to see them get giggly and flirt and blush and get flustered. I want them to go on an awkward first date and wait for the other's call. I want them to date. I want to see them go through hard times, but love each other enough to get through it together. I want them to fight and make up. I want them to get engaged and nervously tell their parents. I want them to argue over the wedding plans, but ultimately decide together. I want to see them get married. I want to see them have kids. I want to see them grow old together. Overall, I want to see their love story, and if they happen to kiss and I see, that's just an added bonus.

A five year old at the gas station said he liked my “bat woman” tattoo excitedly. His father condescendingly asked how many I had. I told him I had 11. He scoffed and asked how waiting tables all my life sounded and I said, “it’s alright on the weekends, but throughout the week I’m your son’s teacher.” He walked out without another word.
